Video is one of the most requested creative skills in Nigeria — brands, churches, creators and event vendors all need it — yet pricing is all over the place. One editor charges ₦5,000 for a reel, another ₦80,000 for something that looks similar. Here’s what’s typical, and why the numbers vary so much.

Typical video editing rates in Nigeria (2026)

These are rough guide ranges per video for editing only (the client supplies the footage). Treat them as a starting point, not a rule — your rate depends on your skill, speed, niche and client.

What pushes the price up (or down)

  • Raw footage. Cutting a 3-minute highlight from six hours of wedding footage is a very different job from trimming a 2-minute selfie video.
  • Motion graphics and effects. Animated titles, captions, colour grading, sound design and VFX all add time — and value.
  • Revisions. Include two rounds; charge for more.
  • Turnaround. Same-day or next-day delivery deserves a rush fee of 30–50%.
  • Usage. An ad that will run on paid media for a national brand is worth more than a birthday clip.
  • Your setup. A capable laptop, storage drives, power backup and paid software are real costs — build them into your rate.

Per video, per minute or per month?

Per video is simplest for one-off jobs. Per finished minute can work for long-form content, but agree the raw footage length too. For creators and brands who post regularly, a monthly retainer — a fixed number of videos for a fixed fee — gives you steady income and gives them predictable output. Many editors offer a small discount on retainers in exchange for the commitment.

Package your edits into tiers

  • Basic: clean cut, music, simple captions, one revision.
  • Standard: Basic + colour correction, animated captions, sound clean-up, two revisions.
  • Premium: Standard + motion graphics, custom intro/outro, multiple formats (9:16, 1:1, 16:9), priority delivery.

That’s exactly how a fixed-price service on iSabi works: three clear packages with the price shown upfront, so there’s no haggling in the DMs.

Protect your work and your time

  • Get the brief in writing: length, style, reference videos, music, deadline.
  • Take a deposit before you start — 50% is standard.
  • Send previews watermarked or in lower resolution; deliver the final file once the balance is paid.
  • Agree who provides the music, and make sure it’s licensed for how the video will be used.

For clients: what to budget

If you’re hiring, the cheapest editor rarely ends up costing the least — missed deadlines and endless revisions add up. Decide what the video is for, share examples you like, and budget in the intermediate range for anything that represents your brand publicly. You can browse video editors on iSabi, watch their work and compare packages before you pay.
